Effectively, a toroidal transformer helps to reduce the transference of unwanted noise to the audio circuitry by retaining the interference in the transformer core. Coils are wound around the surface of the core which minimises the length of wire needed whilst at the same time screening the core’s magnetic field to reduce electromagnetic interference. These transformers can also be more efficient than their cheaper counterparts.
