UniQ
UniQ technology mounts the tweeter in the middle of the bass/mid cone as opposed to the convential mounting of a tweeter
above the mid/bass drive unit. This creates a single "Acoustics Point Source" which stops the high and low frequencies
interfering with each other and also provides a much wider dispersion, creating a bigger "sweet spot". The name "UniQ"
actually comes from the directivity of the treble and bass signals (described in engineering as "Q") being "unified",
hence Uni-Q. The redesigned Uni Q drive unit used in the new Q series adds a patented KEF Tangerine Waveguide to
smooth out the HF response, and the Z-Flex ridged rubber surround which, compared to a conventional half-roll
surround, helps to keep the cone very stiff, allowing an improved dispersion from the tweeter.

Developed from research work into high power systems using compression drivers primarily for concerts, KEF’s patented Tangerine Waveguide crown is designed to improve the coupling between the tweeter dome itself and the air. This aims to compensate for the issues caused by the susceptibility of the tweeter to acoustic resonance occurring in front of the tweeter drive unit.
