The A-9000R is Onkyo’s flagship integrated stereo amplifier. Using technology found in the M-5000R and P-3000R as a base, it offers four distinct amplification modes, separates DACs for the L/R channels and a noise reducing sound module all inside a newly designed low-vibration chassis.

This aims to reduce the amount of noise found in frequencies above 100kHz. Whilst these frequencies are inaudible they do colour the lower, audible, spectrum. By eliminating such interference it help to create a fuller sound.

This enables the amplifier to cancel out any reflex energy from the speakers, thus allowing for the next signal to be sent without interference.

A negative feedback design circuit counters distortion by cancelling it out with an opposing phase of the output signal into the input stage. An inherent problem with this design is it is susceptible to interference from the speakers, causing more circuit noise. This Onkyo-designed circuit seeks to improve on this design with three transistors the signal must pass through. The negative feedback required is therefore less, and so there is less circuit noise.
