Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS HD decoding More Info...
Dolby True HD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS HD decoding

Dolby TrueHD
The YAMAHA RXA3010 has Dolby TrueHD which is a next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. It delivers sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master at a bit rate of up to 18 Mbps. It also supports up to 8 full-range channels of 24-bit/96 kHz audio (although TrueHD can support more than 8 channels, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray standards limit it to 8) and extensive metadata including dialogue normalization and dynamic range control all through an HDMI connection. Dolby TrueHD is compatible with existing and future AV amplifiers/receivers.

Dolby Digital Plus
The YAMAHA RX-A3010 has Dolby Digital Plus decoding. Dolby Digital Plusis a next-generation audio technology for all high-definition programming and media. Dolby Digital Plus was designed for the delivery formats of the future, but remains fully compatible with all current AV amplifier/receivers. Dolby Digital Plus is capable of supporting data rates of up to 6Mbps and having a bit rate performance of at least 3Mbps on Blu-ray.

DTS-HD
The YAMAHA RX-A3010 has DTS-HD which has been selected as an optional audio technology for Blu-Ray Disc and HD-DVD. DTS-HD is a set of extensions to DTS' Coherent Acoustics audio coding system which encompasses DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES 6.1 discrete, DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24. As a mandatory technology in the next generation standards, a DTS decoder will be built into every HD-DVD or Blu-ray Disc player. A single DTS-HD data stream on a disc can carry everything from standard DTS 5.1 playable on virtually all existing 280 million plus DTS decoders, all the way to lossless for next-generation systems.
YPAO acoustic correction More Info...
YPAO acoustic correction
Yamaha’s Aventage series employ YPAO room equalisation, which aims to tune the receiver’s output to match your room. A setup microphone is supplied and the receiver then uses information to set parameters for the audio reproduction including speaker distance, speaker size and SPL (sound pressure level). It also employs Reflected Sound Control to correct early reflections for further improved audio playback.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) v1.4
The HDMI v1.4 connections on the YAMAHA RX-A3010 allows for the transmission of 1080p 3D content between a 3D-compatible Blu-Ray Disc player and a 3D HD display. It also brings in an audio return channel allowing for two-way transmission of audio. This allows your television, for example, to send audio back from its integrated tuner to the receiver, solving the problem of having to run more than one cable between your A/V receiver and TV.
1080p HDMI video upscaling More Info...
1080p HDMI video upscaling
Video Upscaling
Video content comes in many different shapes and sizes. A DVD, for example, could come in a 4:3 aspect at 480p whilst a Blu-ray or computer game may come in a 16:9 aspect at 1080i. Thse signals must first be processed by either an A/V receiver or by your television in order to display correctly. In the first instance, when upscaling from 480p to 1080p, an algorithm is used to interpolate the original pixels. The end result is a largely new frame; many of the pixels displayed are an average of those around them. In the second instance, from 1080i to 1080p, the image is simply deinterlaced. This process precedes any upscaling, so if you upscale from 480i to 1080p, it will first be deinterlaced before being upscaled.
Dual HDMI outputs More Info...
Dual HDMI outputs
The Yamaha has two HDMI outputs. HDMI Out 1 has Audio Return Channel, whereas HDMI Out 2 just displays the selected video source. Dual outputs are useful if you have two display devices such as a Plasma/LCD TV & a projector or if you wanted to run the video signal to another room.
HQV Vida VHD1900 video processing chip More Info...
HQV Vida VHD1900 video processing chip

HQV Vida VHD1900 Video Processor
This processor attempts to enhance the viewing experience because it is the first truly integrated video processing integrated circuit. This sets the standards for processing performance in high quality video and it does this with four-field motion adaptive de-interlacing, multi cadence tracking, expanded 12-bit colour processing and detail enhancement. This aims to transform standard definition sources to near-HD quality and can even be used to try and clean up HD images. The device provides real-time clean up of compressed video, reducing compression artefacts of block and mosquito noise from lower quality sources.

However, you can often navigate using the front panel display, removing the need to turn on your television to enjoy music from your iPod.
Yamaha "Compressed Music Enhancer" More Info...
Yamaha "Compressed Music Enhancer"
Compressed audio such as .mp3 files lose significant amounts of information during the compression process. The Compressed Music Enhancer from Yamaha utilises digital signal processing with proprietary algorithms which aim to improve the quality of your digitised audio.
Compatible with Yamaha’s free AV Controller app, allowing your basic control of your receiver from your iOS device
A.R.T Wedge to help reduce vibration More Info...
A.R.T Wedge to help reduce vibration
Aiming to dampen vibrations from the transformer, the A.R.T (Anti-Resonance Technology) Wedge is a fifth foot localised in the centre of the receiver. It also helps to reduce any vibration from the heat sinks, transistors or even vibration caused from the speakers themselves.
CINEMA DSP 3D includes 23 different DSP programs, such as
PLL (Phase Locked Looped) jitter-cleaning circuitry
IR in/out and 12v trigger outputs More Info...
IR in/out and 12v trigger outputs
Useful for custom installation. IR Inputs and Outputs allow 3rd party RF (Radio Frequency) remote controls to connect at the rear of the receiver and pass the codes that would normally be transmitted via infrared directly to the receiver. The IR output allows this to be looped through to other equipment. The Zone 2/3 12v trigger outputs allows 3rd party items like a projection screen to be controlled.
Bi-Amping capability More Info...
Bi-Amping capability
Bi-Amping allows you to use any spare amps you have on your A/V Amplifier to get the most out of your front speakers. To do this your front speakers need to be biwireable (Have two sets of terminals marked HF and LF) and you need to run bi-wire cable. You also need to have two spare channels. So for example if your are using only 5.1 speakers you can use the other two channels for Bi-Amping
Powered Zone 2/3 option and Zone 2/3 preouts More Info...
Powered Zone 2/3 option and Zone 2/3 preouts
Zone 2 allows you to be watch/listening to a separate input in another room. For example one person might be watching a Blu-Ray in one room and another could be listening to the radio. If you are only using 5.1 you can assign the extra channels of amplification to Zone 2 and 3.
